Green cemetery back on agenda

By AMEERAH CETAWAYO, The Daily News, Bowling Green, KY ,

James D. Carrier will go before the City-County Board of Adjustments at City Hall Thursday night for the second time in his quest to construct a cemetery at the southeast intersection of Bristow Road and Sunnyside-Gott Road, according to planning documents.

The property is zoned agriculture, which requires a conditional use permit in order for a cemetery to operate in such an area.

The proposed cemetery would be on 137 acres and include traditional and natural burials, according to Carrier.

Last month, board members tabled Carrier’s request, because they wanted more information and specific details.

For instance, board members wanted to see Carrier’s plans for a landscape/greenspace buffer around the perimeter of the property reflected in the architectural drawings.

Board members said Carrier had good intentions but said the board requires such details to be etched out in the planning documents to leave no room for speculation.
