Hello Alexandra,

Whilst researching for the 'Ickworth Lives' project, I have found your article about your father, who used to be a butler at Ickworth. We are most sad to learn of his passing.

Our project aims to utilise the recollections from those that were in service at Ickworth to reinvigorate the basement area, which is currently undergoing restoration.

If you would like to share any memories or photographs of your father, from his time at Ickworth, we would be absolutely delighted to meet with you.

Kind regards,

Ickworth Lives Administrator

I am sorry about your father's death but would like to ask about Charles Hope Johnstone and Patrick Cobbold. I met Charles in Stamford (George Hotel) in 1974 (?). We were very good friends despite me being a woman. I ment to contact him for over 30 years and when I finally got to it last Sunday I found out that he died in 1994. It was quite a shock for me because in my mind he stayed twenty some tears old very goodlooking young man. Also, I had apleasure of meeting his mother, and!!! she died in 1994! Also, I had this pleasure of meeting his uncle Patrick, and he died in 1994! What a terrible year for the family. Couldyoulet me know if it was some kind of an accident? Was it sudden death. I am in shock and would appreciate any information. Thank you. Iza Amaral
