I definitely like the idea of a Green Natural Burial.
I have e-mailed Cedar Brook Burial Ground about my grave site and inquired about being laid to rest naturally in a Somerset Willow Coffin.
The Burial Ground sounds peaceful and I like how as my remains decompose naturally, the Somerset Willow containing them decomposes with me.
My feelings on my death are NO EMBALMING OR CREMATION. Nor do I want my remains "Perfumed'. When dead, I want everything natural including my casketing.
If I were to be waked and shown laying dead (requiring Embalming)I could see being dressed.
However when I am lovingly laid inside my Somerset Willow to replenish the Earth, my final wishes are to be laid nakedly at peace. Other than the cotton lining inside the Somerset Willow, the only material other item I want buried with me is my pillow.
Why waste clothing that could be donated ? Even cremations should be naked. Again, why burn the clothing with the ashened remains ?
I want to lay with my hands cupped behind my head, revealing my armpits and hairs. I also want roses decorating, adorning my remains.
Two long stemmed roses upon my closed legs and chest between my breast. Three sweetheart roses, one in the hollow of my right armpit, the second in the hollow of my left armpit and the third ardoning my pubic hairs.
As I lay dead decaying decomposing naturally inside my Somerset Willow, I also like how it is not waterproof, allowing the elements, (rain, sand, rocks) to enter along with the worms and bugs, making me feel my earhly replenishment and bodily decomposition of my remains was definitely worthy of my final wishes. I am dead then, why do I mind being eaten by worms and bugs that enter inside my grave looking for food ? It's natures way of replenshing the Earth and my contribution towards this objectice.
I know my arrangements may sound strange, but if I am cremated, there is nothing replenished and if I am buried embalmed, my remains are contaminating the Earth. This way I know I died and was laid into the earth as I wanted personally. Thank You
