Is the Paisley site open for natural burials? Whom should I contact? My wife is going to die in the next few weeks. Thank you. Mac Bradden

I'm very interested in natural burial sites. It seems to be so much kinder to our environment. Is there any hope of the site proposed for the Paisley area becoming a reality?

Interesting concept. I think it is better than sealing a a body in a tight sealed coffin. That results in body basically turning to a wet mush and staying that way for decades or long.
That being said, this whole business about 'going green" ect, is nonsense. Espially the part about 'creating' a green space. Have you ever been to Paisley? The entire town is surroundd by hundred of miles of green space, in fact most of that entire region along the entire coast of L. Huron is green space. Thats where you loose me in the mantra. "geen space" is just that, a mantra. But go ahead and do the natural burial. There's nothign wrong with it.
On the other hand though, having a place to vist your deceased relatives can be a comfot to those still around.

I live in Southern Ontario and am all for a green burial after reading about them a year ago. Would welcome a designated Ontario site as I've only read of burial sites in the UK and BC. What can the public do to help???

I am all for this idea. The cost of funerals is stagering,a waste of land and money. Plus when you leave this world why not nourish it instead of polluting it.

This is a great idea and I hope its in place when Im ready to go.

I first read about green burials a year or so ago but lost the information in a house move.
I have had quite interesting but (OK) stupid discussions about this with people who really don't understand that the types of body disposal used now involves very nasty chemicals - carcinogens - and that the pollution from a crematorium is no different than pollution from a factory. It's not a good way to go.
The most interesting argument is a primitive one - distaste with the concept of the body being used as `food for the worms'. I don't understand this. It seems like a good thing to me, but, for many, unless the body is `processed' somehow, they are not comfortable.
The other factor is emotional - a combination of guilt and social appearances.
I think this is the biggest hurdle; however, the obscene cost of conventional funerals might be the turning point.
I really hope that we can see this movement as the turning point away from the current exploitative situation.

I am pleased that our world is finally looking at going green even at death. After all, we are responsible for the pollution and enviromenetal damage to our earth. This is a natural process to re-enter the physical remains to the earth at death, as the soul continues to live on.
