Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home, Skyline Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, Young’s Funeral Home, Ross Hollywood Chapel and Bateman Funeral Home are all members of the Green Burial Council and now offer a range of earth-friendly products, services and tributes designed to reflect the deep respect Portlanders have for the environment.
“People who love nature want to honor that commitment at the end of their lives,” said J. C. Aubry, Market Director of Dignity Memorial providers, a network of more than 1,800 funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers in North America.
These locations will also support Friends of Columbia Gorge by promoting awareness of the organization and by offering customers the special opportunity to establish an honorarium for family and friends to donate to the organization on behalf of their loved one. Portland Dignity Memorial providers will match all donations made by their customers up to $5,000.
The funeral homes will also support Friends of Columbia Gorge through activities and by promoting awareness of the organization through their websites and locations in the Portland area.
Friends of the Columbia Gorge is a 30-year old organization with nearly 5,000 members in Oregon and Washington and dedicated to protecting the wild and beautiful Columbia Gorge. Through an agreement with Friends of Columbia Gorge, the businesses will also offer customers the opportunity to establish honorariums for family and friends to donate to conservation work in the Columbia Gorge.
“Protecting the Columbia Gorge means making it a better place for our future generations,” said Kevin Gorman, executive director of Friends of the Columbia Gorge. “In the same vein, green burial services work toward the same goal: making our planet a better place for the next generation.”
